CHEST 2025 Travel Grant Nomination
CHEST is committed to establishing an inclusive and equitable community that is representative of not only our members but also of the patients we serve. Through the CHEST Annual Meeting Travel Grants, we actively support and encourage the participation, engagement, and professional growth of our diverse and inclusive chest medicine clinician community.
In alignment with our core values of inclusion, innovation, advocacy, community, and integrity, CHEST recognizes that a diverse chest medicine workforce is the key to unlocking best patient outcomes. Supporting the development of CHEST members from historically excluded populations enriches the field of chest medicine and moves us closer to achieving health and professional equity.
All members of the multiprofessional care team are eligible to apply; this includes respiratory therapists, nurse practitioners, physician associates, fellows, interns/residents, etc.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this award, applicants must be CHEST members who:
are from historically excluded backgrounds and are able to describe how their background, identity, or lived experiences have positioned them to meaningfully benefit from this award
(Examples of excluded backgrounds include, but are not limited to, first-generation college graduates, individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, individuals with expansive gender identities, individuals from communities of color, and individuals with disabilities. If an applicant is applying because they have an excluded background not listed above, the applicant must clearly describe how they meet the eligibility criteria in their application.);are currently in training or within their first five years of practice; and
have not previously been awarded a CHEST Travel Grant.
Only self-nominations will be accepted.
What Recipients Receive
Selected individuals will receive complimentary registration and $1,000 to cover the costs associated with attending CHEST 2025 in Chicago, October 19 to 22. Recipients will be asked to attend sessions and networking events and provide commentary on their experience. All travel grant nominations will be reviewed and selected by the Board of Advisors.
Recipients will have the option to submit their interest in participating in the CHEST Mentoring Program. This program pairs mentees with CHEST leaders for 12 months to enhance their professional and personal development.
Additional Information
Travel grants are made possible with the generous gifts from our members. Every $1,000 donated provides a travel grant to a member who may not be able to attend the CHEST Annual Meeting otherwise.
Nominations will be reviewed in the areas of background and lived experiences, references, importance of inclusion, contribution to the field of medicine, CHEST engagement, and future professional plans.
Please Note:
Recipients will not be eligible for the travel grant if receiving another grant (ie, research, community impact) or attending the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellows Course.
